Where To Find Patches After Volcano Manor

So, you’ve braved the fiery pits of Volcano Manor. You’ve probably emerged smelling faintly of brimstone and victory, maybe a little singed. Congratulations! You’ve completed a rather… memorable… part of your journey. Now, the big question looms: where on earth do you find more Patches? Because let’s be honest, a Tarnished’s life just isn’t the same without that particular brand of morally flexible companionship.
It’s a puzzle many of us have faced. You get used to his… unique brand of advice. His sales pitches. His uncanny ability to appear just when you’re about to fall off a cliff, only to offer you a suspiciously good deal on something you definitely don't need. And then, poof! Gone. Like a well-timed escape artist.
My own journey after Volcano Manor was a whirlwind of confused wandering. I checked back in his usual spots. Nope. I scoured the most likely areas for someone who enjoys a good trap. Still no sign. It felt like a significant loss, like a favorite tavern closing down. Who else was going to try and sell me a suspiciously cheap "key" that probably leads to another slime pit?
Perhaps this is an unpopular opinion, but I actually miss Patches. Don't get me wrong, the guy is a scoundrel. A pure, unadulterated, lovable scoundrel. He’s the guy you love to hate, or maybe just love to be mildly annoyed by. He adds a certain… je ne sais quoi… to the grim realities of The Lands Between. Without him, it just feels a little too earnest, you know?
So, I embarked on a quest. A quest not for great runes or legendary weapons, but for the elusive Hyena. Yes, the man himself. And I discovered something quite… telling. It seems Patches, like a particularly resourceful mushroom, tends to pop up where you least expect him, often after a good bit of adventuring and, dare I say it, a little bit of profit.

Think about it. Where does a con artist go after a successful venture? Probably somewhere quiet, somewhere they can count their spoils, maybe plan their next grand scheme. And what’s more grand than setting up shop in a location that’s a little… off the beaten path?
My first hint came after a particularly… challenging… encounter with some very aggressive knights. I was low on supplies, feeling a bit demoralized. And then, there he was. Not in some grand city, not in a bustling marketplace, but in a place that felt like it was designed for… well, for people like him. A place that whispered secrets and promised shortcuts. Or maybe just another way to get you to buy a useless trinket.
"A Tarnished's life just isn't the same without that particular brand of morally flexible companionship."
The key, I’ve found, is to not just look where he was, but to consider where he would be. Where would a man who thrives on… opportunity… set up his next little enterprise? It’s not always the obvious spots. Sometimes, it’s the places that feel a little forgotten, a little bit tucked away. Places where the whispers of treasure are louder than the shouts of danger.

And then there’s the matter of his inventory. Patches, as we know, is a businessman. And good businessmen follow the money. So, after you’ve done some significant deed, some major accomplishment that likely put you in a rather good financial position, who’s going to be there, ready to offer you “special deals” on things you might need? The guy who’s good at spotting a mark. The guy who understands the concept of… re-supply.
I’ve seen him in places that are remarkably… convenient… after a particularly taxing boss fight. Almost as if he anticipated your need for a new weapon, or perhaps a more robust shield. It’s almost like he has a sixth sense for when a Tarnished is feeling vulnerable, and therefore, more susceptible to his persuasive tactics. It’s brilliant, really. From a business perspective, of course.

So, instead of just trudging through the well-trodden paths, try venturing a little further. Explore those curious little caves. Investigate those odd little nooks and crannies. The places where the wind whispers and the shadows play tricks on your eyes. Because that’s where the real treasures are, right? And sometimes, the greatest treasure is a familiar, albeit roguish, face offering you a suspiciously affordable “lucky charm.”
I’ve learned to embrace the chase. It’s part of the fun, isn’t it? The thrill of the hunt, not for some ancient artifact, but for the man who sells you the lore. He’s a legend in his own right, a master of the opportune moment, a true connoisseur of the sideways glance. And I, for one, am glad he keeps showing up. Even if it means I’ll probably end up buying something I’ll regret later. It’s the Patches experience, after all.
Keep an eye out in the more… interesting… locales. The ones that make you wonder, "Why would anyone even build here?" Because that's exactly the kind of place our dear friend Patches would set up shop. And who knows? He might just have something you desperately need. Or something that looks an awful lot like it.
